Steven Lorenz has served as music director and conductor of Measure for Measure since 2007. Mr. Lorenz is director of choirs at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in the Ann Arbor Public Schools, where he directs five curricular choirs, oversees nine extra-curricular choirs. During the summer, Mr. Lorenz is on the conducting faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp, directing the Intermediate Vocal Arts program.
Choirs prepared by Mr. Lorenz have appeared at the American Choral Directors Association Central Division Convention, American Choral Directors Association Michigan State Convention, Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses National Seminar, Michigan Music Conference, and Michigan Youth Arts Festival. In 2019, 2015 & 2014, the Ann Arbor Pioneer High School A Cappella Choir was named the Outstanding Choir in Michigan by the Michigan School Vocal Music Association. Mr. Lorenz has conducted regional and state honors choirs in Michigan, and prepared choruses for the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and Flint Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Lorenz holds degrees from Michigan State University (M.M.) and Carleton College (B.A.), studying conducting with Jonathan Reed and Lawrence Burnett.
Mr. Lorenz currently serves as Vice President of the Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses, Inc.. He is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, Michigan School Vocal Music Association, and Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses, Inc.
