Strategic Plan

Measure for Measure will continue to expand enjoyment of men’s choral singing through performing before a wide variety of audiences, and through recordings, commissions, collaborations, tours, artistic outreach, and audience engagement.

Measure for Measure will schedule annual concerts at St. Francis Church in Ann Arbor in December and at Hill Auditorium in May. We will seek out other concert venues across the state of Michigan, such as the Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater, MI, and the Cheboygan Opera House, as well as tour in nearby states. The group will participate in the Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses’ Symposiums every other year. (These were held most recently in New Brunswick, NJ, and Washington, D.C.)

Measure for Measure will continue to collaborate with diverse groups such as the Brazeal Dennard Chorale of Detroit and the Livingston Women’s Chorale. We will continue singing in annual holiday concerts with the Ann Arbor Symphony, and in special symphonic performances, such as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Carmina Burana, and the Mozart Requiem.

Measure for Measure will work to increase the corpus of choral music written for men’s voices, through commissions and collaborations with composers locally and nationally. We have commissioned pieces such as The Map by David Moore (jointly with the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club); War Music by Jeffrey Cobb; A Beautiful Thing by Michael Cox; a new arrangement of Rise by Arianne Abela; and two new, exciting works by Detroit composer Stacey Gibbs: A Song of Triumph and Great Day.  We intend to keep commissioning new works to share with our audiences and with choirs throughout the musical world.

Furthering our outreach, Measure for Measure will continue hosting an informal ‘Summer Sing’ in late August, open to all singers in the area and led by choral conductors invited from prominent regional college and community singing groups.

Measure for Measure will improve audience engagement through eliciting feedback from attendees and supporters.  And we will expand our audience by making recordings available through our website and social media.
