Seohyun You

Seohyun You was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to the United States to study music in 1997. Mrs. You holds bachelors and masters degrees in piano performance from Eastern Michigan University where she was a student of Dr. Joel Schoenhals. While at EMU, she served as a graduate assistant for Dr. Schoenhals, and an accompanist for the university choir, opera workshop, and private studio vocalists and instrumentalists. Prior to her arrival at EMU, Mrs. You studied with Joel Hastings.
Mrs. You is an active collaborative pianist in southeast Michigan. She has served as accompanist of Measure for Measure: A Men’s Choral Society since 2013, is currently an accompanist at EMU vocal department and continues to be called upon to accompany both vocalists and instrumentalists. She served as choral accompanist at South Lyon High School from 2007-2019. She is also a passionate piano teacher in the Ann Arbor area, with a studio of about 30 students. Additionally, she has served as organist and pianist at St. James United Church of Christ in Saline since 2010. Mrs. You now resides in Ann Arbor with her husband and their two children, Daniel and Gia.
