SUMMARY:New Member Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Open to male singers of all ages\, Measure for Measure: A Men’s Choral Society was founded in 1988 to provide an opportunity for singers to perform music composed and arranged for male voices. If you love to sing and can read music\, come and join our brotherhood of song! \nThe Measure for Measure 2019-20 season includes performances with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra\, at the IMC National Seminar\, and in lovely venues including Hill Auditorium and St. Francis of Assisi Church. \nMeasure for Measure holds weekly rehearsals on Sunday evenings\, 6:30-9:00pm\, in Alexander Hall 106\, on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. Participation in Measure for Measure remains open to all by audition\, held in September and January of each year. \nAudition Information – Winter 2020\nDates & Times:  \nSunday\, January 19 & 26\nAlexander Music Hall\nE Circle Dr\, Room 106\nYpsilanti\, MI 48197 \n\n6:30pm Participate in rehearsal with current members\n9:00pm Auditions for prospective members\n\nImportant note about parking:\nPlease park in the Alexander gated lot\, directly East of the building. We will provide you with a parking voucher to use when you exit the lot. \nWhat to Expect \nVocalization\nThe singer will perform a series of vocalization exercises to determine the\nrange and color of the voice. \nSight Reading\nThe singer is given a short excerpt from TTBB selection\, and is asked to\nsing their part while the other three parts are played by a pianist. \nInterview\nA short\, informational interview is held with the Measure for Measure\nexecutive board to provide more details about the ensemble. \nProspective members will be notified of results within 48 hours of the\naudition. \nTo obtain information about chorus membership\, please contact music director Steven Lorenz at steven.r.lorenz(at)gmail.com or call 734.649.SONG.
