Measure for Measure: A Men’s Choral Society was founded in 1988 to provide an opportunity for singers to perform music composed and arranged for male voices. If you love to sing and can read music, come and see what we are all about.
Measure for Measure performs with many outstanding musical groups, such as the Ann Arbor and Flint Symphony Orchestras, University of Michigan Men’s and Women’s Glee Clubs, Motor City Brass Band, Windsor Classic Chorale, and selected Michigan high school choruses. Venues include Hill Auditorium, St. Francis of Assisi Church, the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, and wonderful churches across Southeast Michigan. The group toured Wales in 1999 and regularly attends the Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses (IMC) National Seminar, most recently at Rutgers University in 2014. Our director, Steve Lorenz, currently serves as vice president of IMC.
Measure for Measure holds weekly rehearsals on Sunday evenings, 6:30-9:00PM, in Alexander Hall 105, on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.
Participation in Measure for Measure is open to all men at least nineteen years of age and able to read music by audition, held in September and January of each year. We strongly encourage prospective members to attend our rehearsals, with auditions immediately following.
